Police Headquarters, Brentwood, USA

Lighting concept for safety and elegance

A new facility for public safety in the heart of Brentwood, Tennessee, has enabled the local police authorities to consolidate its forces in one centrally located building complex. The modern facility combines various uses and space types in a clearly structured and functional overall complex.

The building houses offices, break rooms and changing facilities, as well as classrooms, criminal investigation and lab facilities, and an emergency call centre. Visitors can access the building via a specially secured lobby. A large section of the building has been specially designed for the Brentwood police, with offices and state-of-the-art laboratories that offer new possibilities for forensic investigation. The classroom, defensive tactics rooms, virtual scenario simulation and firearms range are not only available to the Brentwood police, but other authorities in the region.

On the top floor, a brand-new emergency call centre has been integrated, which can be further expanded in the future. The grounds also include an outbuilding, which serves as a rescue station for a team of first responders and its rescue vehicles.

The exterior lighting of the building has been thoughtfully planned out: narrow, rectangular BEGA in-ground luminaires create a warm and inviting facade that is clearly visible, both from the Interstate and from the public parking areas. Safety is the top priority: BEGA Vehicle Blockers® – special system bollards that, when combined with a foundation, prevent vehicle access – protect the main entrance from vehicles without posing an obstacle to pedestrians.

Subtle BEGA in-ground luminaires have been installed by the staff entrance, which elegantly illuminate the motto: “Loyalty above all else, except honor”, as well as the memorial wall for police officers killed in the line of duty. Another element of this scene is the life-size bronze statue of a lion. This reminds personnel of their duty to protect the community that they serve. Additional BEGA in-ground luminaires ensure that the American flag is appropriately illuminated by night.
