BEGA Connect transfers the control of urban architectural lighting to the cloud
The planning of the new architectural lighting for the city of Nuremberg formulated clear specifications: In future, the lighting systems were to be programmed and controlled from a workstation at the relevantly authorised service centre. The idea was to merge the operations of several hundred light points across multiple groups and at various locations in a single user interface. In other words: scaling, clustering, web-based control – all via a central “cockpit”.
BEGA Connect, our professional light control system, was chosen to kick off the project with the illumination of the Tiergärtnertorplatz square.
This square is a popular meeting place – and not just during the summer months. A square tower remaining from the old city wall, a round Neutorturm tower, and an ensemble of half-timbered houses and sandstone structures form an impressive medieval backdrop. The panoramic view is dominated by the Kaiserburg imperial castle – all in all, the ambience is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Nuremberg’s old city quarter.
The gate was constructed in the 13th century as part of the city fortifications. It was named after the game reserve maintained by one of the burgraves in the nearby moat. Around 1545, Tiergärtnertor gate was permanently bricked up because it was becoming too small for the increasingly large vehicles passing through – i.e. horse-drawn carriages. The new gate erected in the immediate vicinity took nothing away from its predecessor's appeal – its architectural presence has lost none of its charm to this day.
BEGA luminaires set the scene for Tiergärtnertor gate – which gave the square its name – and for the fascinating architecture in its vicinity. They maintain the wonderful ambience of this entire area during evening hours and at night. The BEGA Air Connector controls and monitors the system in the cloud, regardless of its physical location.

En BEGA Air Connector flytter styring og overvågning af projektørerne til BEGA Connect Cloud. Takket være Narrowband-IoT-forbindelsen kræves ingen eksisterende internetforbindelse – alle muligheder for handling er tilgængelige fra skrivebordet i "Nürnberg Servicebetrieb Öffentlicher Raum".
